Wolverines - ghosts of the Northern forest
This Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBC's The Nature of Things we will be broadcasting our companies documentary on Wolverines.
My partner and I spent five years working on it. A big thanks to all the trappers, ACA, and U of A for their co-operation and efforts.
I hope folks enjoy it.

I am extremely grateful to be given a heads up on the airing of this documentary. I will definitely be watching it, and PVR'ing it so I can watch it again. If I was in Edmonton, I'd be going to the Wednesday showing.
I can't imagine the hours put in by these guys to get the pictures they have. Good on ya. That is determination and perseverance.
Thank You Brian for posting this.

While I applaud your efforts I wonder who the narrator will be on your film. Hopefully not the fruit fly expert Suzuki

My wife and I had the pleasure of watching one get a good workout one day in K Country. It had a large trek across a bowl of snow before it went up and over a ridge I don't think a rock climber would have attempted.
Too bad it was in the days before we carried serious camera equipment.
We followed the research done down in Glacier Nat. Park for a while.
Amazing creatures.
Will look forward to seeing the show. Thanks for doing the work you have all done. Education is key to preservation.

Thanks! I have my PVR set. AO has helped me in finding decent programs to watch. Saw the recommended Moose documentary a few days ago, that was interesting.
It's a shame that these programs are not more prevalent. The nature shows on Discovery with David Attenborough narrating were some real gems. That was so many years ago though.

Thanks for the comments guys.
We had a great turnout last night at the Metro Garneau theatre premier, about 300 folks.
It was nice to see some ACA Board members, and our ACA wildlife chair, Professor Mark Boyce ( and fellow AO columnist) Mark was kind enough to answer questions from the audience about the research component featured in the documentary.
We also had good representation from the Alberta Trappers Association, guys like the Ambercrombie family and Neil Kinney, who are key to the Birch Mountain research portion of the research.
My partner Andrew Manske also answered questions about being the cinematographer on something as demanding as this shoot. We ran out of time for the Q & A so folks must have enjoyed themselves.
Tonight at 8 p.m. is the Broadcast premier. CBC . Hope anyone with an interest in wolverines learns something tonight.

When I was 11-12 years old growing up in Kitchener B.C., one of the families in our little town brought their dump truck in to show us kids the critter in the dump box. It was either a wolverine or a badger, can't remember now as that was about 35 years or so ago. Not sure how it got in there, but it was very unhappy, and it was pretty scary to watch it storming around. Really neat for us kids to see though. Not sure what happened to the little critter, but there was a taxidermist in our town, so.........

Wow
much respect into opening a window into the secret world of the mythical wolverine.
Congratulations to you and your team Brian- you really knocked it out of the park in some of the toughest conditions and subject material imaginable!
