Default illuminated hooks

For you guys that use them, how good are they?
What do you illuminate them with and how long does the illumination last in the water?? Just curious as it seems a fair amount of people are using them.

Illumination would depend on what paint is on the head/plastic. Typically "super glow" colors are brightest and last the longest without a recharge. White will easily outlast other glow colors and shares the same color as a common "green glow stick" when illuminated.

A typical jig head: 10-20 minutes before I recharge. Plastics don't last as long, usually 5-10 minutes. All depends on your desired level of brightness.

I use a 128 LED 395 nM ultraviolet blacklight when charging my lures. You can use less power but doesn't work nearly as effective.

Cheers

I guess the answer depends on the additive in the lures you’re going to buy.

From my experience it makes a significant difference here on the big pond. To the extent I won’t run skirts that don’t have ALL the additives. I’ve done some reading on the research on what the fish I target can see and it includes the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums. The skirts I use have lumo, UVAten, UV2 and CAT additives. Those are his proprietary names and some of them (like CAT) he won’t disclose what they are.
Like I said though, I can use the same colours in a different brand on the same lure and the success is dogchit compared to the skirts with the additives. I only use the sun to charge them and our eyes can only see the lumo but here’s an example when I turn the lights out.

You may or not have access to any of those additives on the landlocked scene.

Fire. Yesterday I caught nine rainbows before it was light enough to not need my headlamp. Rainbows...
