Remember when Smith sniped the wildrose and crossed the floor to that washed up federal politician Jason Kenney? Brian Jean was supposed to be Alberta's best hope, but even he stated that had he won, he would have had Notley run all the covid nonsense.

Left wing. Right wing. 2 wings of the same bird. 2 cheeks of the same arse spewing you know what. There is no Liberal, Conservative or NDP - it's all the same nonsense. I thought the last 3 years would have woken people up to that.

Here's Jason Kenney by the way talking about the great reset and how it's going to cause great hardship and great poverty. But yet, he took Trudeaus billion dollar bribe, brought the mandates in - and here we go, down the toilet.

Remember the red queen? Staunch conservative? Yeah, right.

Here's Jason Kenney talking about the great reset. 3 minutes that EVERYONE should watch.

I listened to Smith’s talk show for at least 3 years. I know more about her views than any other candidate. While she did mess up as a young politician following bad advice, she’s conservative to the core. Her admiration of Ayn Rand will guarantee you that there’s never another lockdown in Alberta. I don’t agree with her on everything but she’s going to take this province in the right direction and that’s what matters.

As a member of the working middle class in alberta there is not one reason why I would vote NDP. Their socialist policy’s mean less money in my pocket in every way. Not to mention I like to hunt, be a responsible gun owner and work in ag! They are the enemy really.

Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong. When she said she was going to bring in legislation to protect the unvaxxed, people cheered. Then it was no, we're just going to call businesses and beg them not to do it instead. Any punishment for businesses in Alberta for firing people that were smart enough not to get vaccinated? Not that I'm aware of.

Just throwing it out there. There is nothing that is going to save Alberta at this point, nor Canada for that matter.

There is no reason to even look at the NDP platform, because this exact leader already had her chance and has already shown how she will handle things.

Dannielle Smith is a moron, and as far as I'm concerned, if the UCP takes a loss they pretty much deserve it. She couldnt win an election at the best of times in the past, and her past is full of screw ups almost as stupid as Notley's. IMO its completely fair to blame her for the fact that we ever had an NDP government in the first place... that said, she hasnt proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she will run Alberta into the ground if given the chance... so IMO there really isnt much choice.

The result of nearly every socialist revolution. Socialism was invented and almost invariably championed by social elites. It never was, and never will be anything other than a means of coercing the lower class into doing one's bidding.

you vote for the party that fits your fancy then just hope that the party you voted for doesn’t have hidden agendas that surface totally against what you voted for them in the first place.

Reminds me of street hockey as a kid, ya pick your team and battle it out.

I have not seen one NDP sign in the close-to-edmonton town that I live in. Nice to see the blue. My spidey-senses are tingling with a UCP win.

I feel like the gun owners that vote liberal or ndp are old dudes that want the free stuff more than the gun stuff. I don't know one young gun owner that would ever vote for the ndp or libs.

Just a reminder to those with a problem with using not very creative adjectives to express their opinions. Read the rules regarding language and bypassing the swear filter.
If you must misspell a word in order to get it passed the swear filter then it is not acceptable language. Some are a getting a little loose lipped around here lately.

Also personal attacks on fellow members is also not on. Keep it civil and polite or reap the rewards

NDP have possibly violated the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act.

Never a dull day in Alberta politics.

Default Question

I'm interested to hear what the different views are of "Take Back Alberta" are. If what I understand is correct they are quite a radical group and are quite interwoven within the UCP.

That is certainly how they have been portrayed in some media outlets. I recently read the CBC piece on them and it was quite 1 sided to say the least (surprise) some good ideas in that group some bad and some really good people and some that I don't quite trust thats my 2 cents.

Need to be radical to be able to meet in the middle, but radical as a recipe leaves a sour taste.

Why do we never hear of the radicals in the NDP until after the election?

According to the media someone who wants to cut your taxes and give you more freedom is a radical, but people who push communist slavery are totally normal.

That’s darn scary if true. That’s says a lot about our society if people vote for these candidates. They should not even be tolerated. How many people escaped the horror’s of communism to come to Canada. That’s a whole new level of scary.

These were given out at the NDP convention a few years ago.

Don’t worry the NDP is totally not full of radicals…

It’s clear who’s supporting Notley, who’s pushing woke ideology, and who wants to make all Albertans poorer.

The Alberta Federation of Labour has 2 seats on the NDP Provincial council. If these donations were made directly to the party they’d be illegal.

Been to a few of their meetings
Not radical at all
Right now they have TBA 4 meetings
TBA4 is, make sure NDP doesn't come in
9 reasons not to vote NDP, very interesting
The point is Smith is not perfect, but we're not perfect either, so vote conservative in order to keep Notley out
Wondering what TBA5 is gonna be
Actually TBA is more of an advice group than a radical one.

TBA (take back AB) is a far right piece of work that in my opinion, has to be blocked. Smith/the UCP are far to under the influence of this group in their desperate quest for supporters. Neither Smith nor this group should be any where near the seat of power in AB, in my opinion. So we are left with the NDP who are in bed with the unions. Little difference - TBA and the Unions are both PACs who are allowed way to much leeway to shill on behalf of their respective politicos.

Calgary-Glenmore is between a rock and a hard place. A UCP incumbent who is a Kenney person but willing to ride with Smith/TBA to save her own skin. She was apparently a part of the still unresolved investigation re Kenney’s run for the leadership so comes with baggage. Then we have a new NDP candidate with 15/yrs experience in oil and gas but as a vociferous opponent to oil and gas. With her post graduate education, she could easily end up as Energy Minister in an NDP gov’t. Both of these choices are, in their way, likely to be toxic for AB.

Probably a best case scenario is that the UCP gets in with a small majority and then dumps Smith forthwith before she does some serious damage to AB. My guess is that there are not enough UCP Mia’s with the guts to get this done.

It would be great if the 50 something per cent of eligible voters who do not vote get themselves informed and vote for the local candidate who is likely to be the less toxic for AB in the longer run.

Just for contrast, meet one of the radical candidates running for the NDP:
