Even with some of the "name brands" now (Delco, Mopar, etc...) they are the same crap originating from the same place (China) for MOST of their parts it seems.

You can sometimes find country of origin when shopping at the big online parts guys.

I am so disappointed every time some of my favorite brands begin their "international sourcing" programs and ruin their names in exchange for the gift of more profits.

Rock auto shows you a selection of quality vs price, sometimes Napa does also.

Replaced the power steering pump on my suburban with a Napa part.
It works, but man, is it noisy.
If I wanted to hear whining like that, I'd listen to sports talk radio.

Went to buy a welding plug at the local NAPA. They wanted 93. , supply chain issues you know. Bought the identical plug, same packaging, at Home Hardware, less than 20 bucks. I did buy a rad hose for my 95 GMC and returned it because of poor quality, then ended up with a Gates that was no better. First time I've ever had issues with them.

Napa usually has a few different levels of quality on their parts. Not everything they sell is Balkamp.

Just a bit of info on AC Delco parts.

AC Delco Gold and AC Delco Silver are lower quality parts.
AC Delco Original Equipment and GM Genuine Parts are the better quality

https://acdelcocanada.com/parts/classifications

When sourcing parts I snoop around on a couple of model specific forum to find out what's good and what's junk. On Rock Auto the parts with the hearts beside them are usually a pretty safe choice if you select from the Daily Driver or higher categories.

Lordco seems to carry some of the better aftermarket brands.

I learned that lesson years ago.
I got tired of replacing CV shafts every 6 months, and ball joints every year, and power steering pumps every two years, and fuel pumps every year. I could care less that they warranty the part, they can come to the labour. That's the hard part.
I won't even buy wiper blades from them anymore.

I've always driven GM's and Chevy's, and now they only get GM parts.
Pay once, cry once.

I only buy at Napa if I need something right now and can’t wait. Prices are stupid for chicom garbage.

Rock auto usually has better options and prices but shipping has to be considered. Also formerly good aftermarket brands have been sold and are still cashing in on their reputation while shipping garbage.

More and more, Vehicle manufacturer branded parts are the only ones that get any QC. The rest are made from worn out molds and substandard materials.

They sell just like Canadian tire does they have 3 grades or even more .
Don't bash a company when you buy the low end grade . Bash the grade that you bought .

Default don't feel bad

My youngest son bought a rebuilt truck motor from them in Red Deer. The motor crapped out in 3 months time and they wouldn't honour the warranty. They blamed the US where they get them from and the US said deal with NAPA. Never again will I buy from NAPA

Not much from places like Napa that isn't made in China or whatever these days. Last winter, I did brakes on the Taco, even with getting discounts at various places like Napa around Calgary, Toyota was within 100.00, they were the only ones that had everything I wanted in stock. For 14yrs and 300,000km, made sense to just use the Tojo stuff again.
