Default Tent caterpillars

Explosion this spring here on the island. Fences, handrails, bushes, covered. Stopped under a tree and contemplated why it sounded like rain, until I realized it was a mass of caterpillars above me. Interesting to see if it’ll be the same on the prairies.

Helpers around the yard are overwhelmed

The last infestation we had here in Peace Country was in… 2012, I believe. Maybe 2013, but I think 2012. Was pretty nasty, lol. I had some really cool photos, but in the digital age go figure where to find them. Given the cycle of about a decade, we are probably due for another run anytime now, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be this year. It really sucks when the hills all green up and then all leaves disappear within days for half a summer until the new ones pop out.
