decapping pin?
So I pulled a very bone headed move and broke the decapping pin on my new set of RCBS 7mm WSM dies.(stupid move I know). Does anyone kown if I can just buy a replacement pin instead of a whole new resizing die and possibly where? Located in the Edmonton area. Thanks.

Yes, decapping pins can be had anywhere that carries reloading supplies, buy a few and then you won't have to worry about it next time. P&D, WSS should both have them

Nope afraid not...
....they for sure aren't meant for pushing pea sized bits of rock thru flash holes either.... And they don't work very well when pits of rubber ground media from the range gets shishkabobed onto them while running .223 cases thru a progressive press.... Or when you have a berdan case get mixed into the batch... Or or or....
Ugh

Make sure they are the "headed" pins......the other ones slide right through and you're out 5 bucks!

yes, you are correct. I noticed that when I took it apart. Originally I thought I might be able to make one, which I could on the lathe but for $5 its not worth it, I will just buy some.
thanks

The worst part is, the companies that make these things actually back them up... if you email RCBS and explain your 'problem' they will likely ship you a replacement pin... absolutely shameful the way they do this!

Am I missing the sarcasm or are you serious? If you are serious: So it's shameful for a company to sell them 5 for $7 or whatever it is so that if you really need one, you can have one in whatever time it takes to get to the store and back or you can call and they will ship one to you in a couple days for free. Not sure what is wrong with this? There is a word called convienience.
I really hope I'm missing the sarcasm...

Pins
I had a run where I went through a pile of pins. Bought 10 about 15 years ago and still have 9. Don't know why I was busting the up. And don't know why I stopped busting them. But I have some spares in case my luck turns again.
Make sure you get the same ones you broke. I don't think headed ones will work if the original pins were not headed. I could be wrong. Some will correct me if I am.

Oh boy. Sarcasm; as in it is shameful that these companies back up their products with customer support that is not just good but, in my limited experience, exceptional.
BTW, my Redding dies have come with a spare pin.

Chk your finnishing nail tobacco tin, or Folgers coffee container. Busted one in my Hornady dies. None to be found in Edmonton. Found a suitable nail, cut it off...worked just fine. Right size with a head...
Hornady sent me a new one complete with a new decapping rod a short time later.

From personal experience have found all decapping pins are not created equal. Some are case hardened steel some I think made of copper lol...... Better pins break off.... cheap ones bend. Found that the replacement RCBS were the best for my application. Anyone else find this.... ??

I have a Hornady die with a bent primer decapping pin, where would you get a replacement for it? I have not seen them at BassPro, WSS or any other local shop. Thanks

I just tried WSS north-Nada, south side the same. WGP is no dice. I will try Cabelas or P+d or maybe the nail trick in the mean time.

Fluted brad nails are tempered. (Skinny nail with ridges along the length)
They are tough to cut, but make a good headed pin for my Pacific decapping die.

I saw some Lyman pins at WSS, but the head on them is quite a bit smaller than the original pin in the Hornady die set. I figure they won't seat properly and will wiggle so I'm going to try cutting a small finishing nail and put that into the die. I don't see why that wouldn't work... thanks for the tip.
