i walk into the local sport store

tapping my cane in front of me

with my sun glasses on

and asked if my heat seeking bullets were in

the look's and smiles were priceless

I was at the WSS gun counter one time looking at some rifles. Can't remember which one.

So I say; "Let me see one of those in .308."

Guy at the gun counter; "No one is making any more .308s."

I've been at a gun counter at least twice where guys bring in reloading manuals, out of the factory shrink wrap, soon after they buy them. What guys will do to get the data they want for free. (yes, they could look it up online too). Really funny thing is many gun stores have an open copy that they are glad to share with customers needing to look up a load. Glad I'm not in retail.....

I thought of this thread about a month ago when I was shotgun shopping. I asked to shoulder a few different pumps and a couple semis. The semis were 3” and pumps 3 1-2”. The “more experienced” gentleman “well out of everything you can see here, you need to pick that Benelli Super Nova. It shoot 3.5’s and I shoot geese all day long at 200 yards with mine.”

I was in a gun shop in the City and I was about 25. I heard a great big guy going on about his 300 WinMag for everyone to hear.
I was discussing knives with one of the other customers. I told him I like about a 5 inch blade or skinning. The big guy speaks up and says loudly “boy, I carry a 12” blade”! So I asked him why? He says “cause boy, where I go hunting it’s bear country”! The dude was twice my size and clearly being disrespectful. But of course as cocky as a 23 year-old can be I said to him “ well, if you can’t get him with that 300 win mag you might as well turn that knife on yourself and save the bear the trouble”!
It got pretty quiet in there after that. 🙂

Bass Pro buying new Bino's Looking at Leupold Mojave's, guy at the counter kept pronouncing them "mo-jave's" (rhymes with Dave). I didn't have the heart to correct him.

Was told by a guy the other day that was having issues with his rifle, that the gun counter guy in Edmonton told him the 6.5 Creedmoor he bought would shoot flat right out to 300 yards when zeroed at 100 yards .

Way too common of a story these days. Sometimes the salesman really has no clue, and sometimes the customer doesn't understand what they are told.

It’s a perfect storm. The salesman has no clue and a lot of times neither does the customer.

I was at Cabelas the other day picking up scope bases, the guy ahead of me was saying that 280 Remington ammo shoots way better out of his 270 than factory 270 ammo.
He asked me what I thought, I said I don't shoot 270.

A few months ago, I was in Bass Pro in the ammo section, a customer was asking a staff member about ammo & a question about lead content came up, the staffer mentioned that all ammo had lead in it, quite ironically while they were discussing/ viewing a box of Barnes ammo...
