That's a pretty broad spectrum. You have any location in mind? Maybe south, central, North, National Parks, somewhere hear mountains, fishing?

There are tons of excellent lakes around all depends on where you are located and what exactly you are looking for. "Best" is really a relative term and will be different for everybody.

There is also loads of people here that I'm sure could lend you a better opinion with a little more info on exactly what you are looking to get out of your trip and/or the area you plan to travel.

Any place you can get a spot. Good luck.
You better be planning at least 90 days ahead.

Saskatchewan has tons of lakes and a smaller population base to fill them up. I have lots of friends that take a week or two and come to SK.

Shaw's Point Resort n the west end of SLave Lake....beautiful beach. Algae can sometimes be there as well...I think it depends on the summer.

I do not have a seasonal lot there but that is where my family spends most of the summer.

X2, they boast 100,000 lakes and some nice ones to, I was fortunate enough to have grandparents that had a cabin at Wayakewin and my cousin owned the campground there. Big beautiful lake but an 8 hour drive from Edmonton.
But if you were limited to Alberta only I couldn't honestly answer that. All the good ones we used to go to 20 - 30 years ago are pretty much dried up.

Mons is a good one, clean but small and limited camping amenities.

Lake Pakowki southern AB.( just kidding) may as well put up a pool and camp at home the way things are now, people reserving everything, no such thing as pulling in and grabbing a site after a long days travel, wonder why I even own our rv. as we don't use it that much/ hard to get a site nowadays, but there's always Walmart.

Ososyoos, BC

Doesn't get any better than this one.

Find the lakes in Alberta just not that nice. Overused, dirty, cold, etc.. Couple of hours and you want to call it a day.

I wish I had the number of Campsite closures in Alberta in the last 10 years. I would bet there were many.

Twin lakes by Winfield is a nice campground. The Edmonton diving club dives there because the water is clear. No algae.

Battle lake has a small campground close to the east end of the lake. Just east of the campground is nice for swimming. No algae. There is a flow in the lake so it is good quality water. No cabins around the lake so it is quieter too.

The north Saskatchewan river upstream of Edmonton has a few places to camp and lots of places good for swimming.

The Pembina river by Evansburg is a nice campground with a section of river great for tubing and water play.

You complain about overused lakes and then recommend osoyoos? Probably the busiest lake anywhere. And cold? Part of the reason Alberta lakes get algae is because they're too shallow (warm)

Cold Lake, absolutely love that lake. Great fishing, loads of room and never witnessed algae there in the last decade and a bit for the summers I've hit it. I'm no sailor, but have even spent alot of time being blown all about that lake, good times.

Frog Lake is amazing if you can get on it. Other than that I'd say you're looking at shield lakes, head north my friend, will be clean but cold.

Or look into Sask. some really great lakes in the Meadow lake park and great camping too.

Floatingstone lake has a really nice campground and one of the best kept beaches I have seen in Alberta! The caretakers there do an amazing job! I was very impressed by the beach. Later in the summer there was a few weeds but nothing bad! Great for young families IMO

I like it there to but they just cut down all the trees at the entrance and made a huge staging area for more quad rallys and they cut in a new trail to the head waters of the lake. Not sure why they would wont to make it easyer to get to the head waters of the lake you can bet that this year there will be lots of truck and quads ripping up the head waters not sure what they would do this for it is a great lake and the grops that are pushing this are just in it for the money and they no it.Sorry for this but just thought every one how goes there should know what a mess this is going to be.

Aspen Beach Park on gull lake is by far the best lake i can tell you about. Ive got two others that are better but got to keep those secret.

Aspen beach Park has a big sandy beach, huge playground, warm water boat launch, no algae
