Default Caribou Sightings?

With the recent discussions on wolf culls, caribou protection etc, I thought I would ask if anyone has actually seen a caribou in Alberta lately, where and when?

I have seen caribou a couple times in Alberta, once on Highway 40 south of Grande Cache likely 10 years ago, and once in the Red Rock probably 10-15 years ago.

Anyone?

I used to see them regularly down the Chinchaga forestry road at about km 120-150 and south.
Also saw them once in a while south east of red earth, and occasionally north east of fort vermillion.

I saw tracks in the sand East of Crow lake last year. Looked like half a dozen animals.

Default GOA biologist

For fear of the aforementioned, I reserve the right to not say if I saw an ungulate of the description laid out in this chat. The decimation of the wildlife as an act to protect said ungulate by the Alberta Government for fear of federal intervention is atrocious.
I will not believe that common sense said ungulate on ungulate crime was so high that we needed to kill off other species to slow their growth and preserve ones habitat from them.
Lo and behold the mighty predators came - one from the ashes - and ravaged the remaining ungulates till there was none to hunt.

All bs aside, I have hunted 355 for many years and it's an absolute industrial wasteland coupled by poor choices by the GOA that have destroyed a haven that will never recover in my generation. Shame on you.

Saw a few north of Worsley when I used to work in forestry but that was a quite a few years ago now. Wolves have probably wiped them out by now.

The photos posted here are really interesting!

1936? Very interesting. So where did they all go? I've read something about whitetail being invasive and affecting the numbers of other ungulates but can't remember where that was. Maybe it was something common and others will be able to bring the source up. I think Steven Rinella also has a short video on whitetail numbers affecting mule deer.
