Default brodheads...

I am wondering what everyone on here is shooting for Broadheads...I got some muzzy 100 3bl.
I was thinking about going to an 85 gr because I shoot some heavier sticks. Wondering if any of you guys are shooting any of the monotec g5 85gr, or similar and what you think about them..

anyways lemme know..

I used G5 Montec this year, very impressed with them. Flew very well, penetrated far better than expected.

I'm still shooting Thunderhead 100's and Shockwave 100's. Had really good success with both.

I am shooting the 85gr montecs and put 8 animals on the ground with them this year. Never had a prob with them and real easy to touch up after they have went through an animal.

I would recommend them to anyone

Default 85 GR Thunderheads

I have used Thunderheads for close to 25 years, swithced to the 85 Gr fixed blade about 19 years ago. I have never had a single problem with this head and have downed over 20 animals with it. I know that there are lots of new heads...good ones too, on the market today but have not had any reason to change. I like the looks of some of the new products ...G5 being one, I might do some playing with it.

I have shot a 125gr G5 montec for a few years now and i really like them.1 piece design with no frills and very sharp.

Before that I shot 125gr muzzy 3 blade and they also did the job very well.

I use to shoot 100gr Rocky Mountain Premier 3 blades. This year I switched to 100gr Rage 3 bade mechanicals.
I never shot any game with them, but they do shoot like a field tip.

I use 130 grain Outback Supremes, have used them for a few years and have no reason to change. They fly superbly from my bow and sharpen like a demon, but best of all the the critters drop in short order.

Cheers Noel

These are the new 300 grain, 300Xtreem Bh I am using. Cast stainless steel ,solid 1 piece . I also have them screwed into a 100 gr brass insert on carbon arrows.
Excelent BH., sharp and very strong.
Total arrow weight is 742 grains.
Traditional Bows.

I use steel force and rage 2 blade expandables.

Probably switch to either G5 or slick tricks (or another 4 blade short style broad head).

For smaller game (deer, antelop, caribou) ... probably go with 2 blade expandables, so much blood with thos huge holes.

I'm shooting 100gr Slicks and 100 gr G5 Montec for Deer, and 125 gr Montecs for Moose, and have got 135 gr single bevel 2 blade Outbacks for Trad sticks.
Although, I'm shooting alot heavier than some dudes for arrow grain as it is.
I'm diggin' the Slicks, but I gotta shoot a firm COC head for big game like Moose and Elk. It just makes me feel better...lol..

you're using slick tricks, enough said easily the most over rated broadhead out there and I have tried them. WAY over rated.

I've read the postings and have searched the web to get info on all the broadheads discussed. ( BTW total newbie ). They are all on the high end of price range.

I'm on a rather limited budget so I'm always looking for the best value. Is there any brand/type of broadhead out there in the econo class price range that will perform well or is the lower priced stuff a waste of money.

Does a fellow have to pay $10 plus per tip to get something decent ?

Thanks for all of the advice

I have been doing my own broadhead tests with my buddies. The monotecs are great but they get the same penetration as the slick tricks, muzzy 100s and grim reapers..

As far as consistency expandables!!! I shot tekken 2's/spitfires / NAP shcokwaves...

GUESS WHAT...soo close...no real comparison...So from my own conclusions its just preference.

I guess I'll be shootin the tekkens...cause I like 'em

Good choice haha.. My fav to use cause i like them , if i was to go to fixed.. Montecs of Hell razors. Ps.. Try the new Tekans, way better then the tekan IIs, smaller cuting head and standard 1 1/2" cutting dia in hundered grains, way sharper and better penetrations in IMO
