There is a gun show in Calgary this weekend.I was hoping to get a table to host a MAS display but I think I am SOL to do so.

I will attend the show as I want to take a serious look at a double rifle that will be at the show.I will also pack some miniature firearms to further the hobby of collecting them.Nothing draws the "ooh's and wow's" like a 1/3rd scale thompson machine gun.

Default MAS display table

I am happy to say I will be hosting an MAS display table at the gun show tomorrow thanks to a last minute cancellation by CaberTosser(I think)

Please stop by and say hello and get educated on miniature firearms.I will have my whole collection on display as well as copies of the MAS journal.

Default It was a good show

I quite enjoyed myself today though getting a parking spot was a bit of a challenge.A guy who was parked behind me helped me move my display cabinet into the building and I got my table sorted out and set up inside
of 10 minutes.

For the most part the most common reaction from people was that they had no idea at all that miniature firearms existed.Everybody that stopped at my display and asked questions were amazed by the intricacy and craftsmanship of the miniatures and in a lot of cases were allmost speachless when they were told what the cost of them actually is.

My Kucer miniatures were the most popular followed up by my Miniart miniatures with a serious amount of "cripes I wish I owned that" sentiment for
my 1/3rd scale Miniart Thompson machine gun with the drum magazine.

As the show drew to a close and I was packing up the older gal who was at the table beside mine said the I had the most popular table at the show from what she observed through the course of the day.

All told it took me 10 minutes to pack up my miniatures and then I took them to the car and then I drove up close to the building to fetch my display cabinet. All in all I really enjoyed the show and I got a good amount of appreciative thank you's for my display as well as for the information about miniature firearms.

I look forward to the big show on the Easter weekend at the BMO centre.

Don't know, that mini firearms thing is lost on me. I've seen your little collection, and if you can't load and fire, it's not a true miniature.

A true miniature firearm is one that has EVERYTHING that the full size example has.Be it a functional lever action safety with regards to my 1/3rd scale 1894 saddle ring carbine or the tiny inconsequential yet important detail of my 1/2 scale Luger that has the action hold open when the magazine is empty.Every detail right down to the barrel markings and serial numbers is included with meticulous detail. There are only 3 makers of miniature firearms in the world that include live rounds for the miniatures they make and if you want to buy them the cost comes at about $10,000 minimum.

I guess the total art of craftsmanship is "lost" on you.Either you can appeciate that to make a firearm takes a lot of skill...to make it in 1/2 scale that fully functions takes 20X that amount of skill and to make it in a smaller scale it goes up exponentially. If you cant grasp the skill of a basic gun smith you have no appreciation of a gun smith who creates guns in 1/3rd scale.

Miniature firearms are expensive and to the average gun owner they are off the radar but at the same time they are an artform that has very few craftsman who have the skills to create these works of art and the skills of making them is rapidly dieing off.
