Mule deer is better venison than whitetail.

I'm lucky to have had either elk or moose in my freezer the last several years. I love elk roasts and steaks. I do really like whitetail as well, and a couple of years ago arrowed a littler WT button buck. Best venison I ever had. I don't, however, like mule deer meat, especially late season....it smells like somebody farted on it

Boneless

Buck weight if you get a nice one is over 40# to 75# or more..... cost =36$ tag
Doe weight if you get a nice one is 35# to 50# = 2 for 20$
Fawn is 15# to 25#= 2 for 20$

its a personal choice

I always want poundage for my costs(body mass )

taste not much different before Nov and some not even in Nov

went through a divorce(1996) so am costing ever thing still lmao

as always this is

Food for Thought

I stopped shooting does about 6 years ago when I felt the population was suffering from harsh winters and predators. I solely shoot bucks and don't find them to taste bad.
That said I am sure a 2 year old doe tastes better than a mature 6 or 7 year old buck.
I don't hunt deer for meat most years as the last quite a few years between my dad and I we get at least one bull moose and at least an elk or two. So I will hold out on whitetails unless a big mature buck steps out.
Don't eat much beef unless we go out for dinner or have ribs or something....... That reminds me what should I take out for dinner??? Elk, Moose, Deer?? Maybe some of the wild caught pacific Salmon or Halibut I caught?.......Oh the horrible life us hunters and fishermen live!!!!
