Unfortunately 4x4s just don't score that great.
130 is probably all you will get from that buck..... Score isnt everything and he is a nice middle aged buck.

That's what i'm thinking. I shattered a couple vertebrae a few years ago and could only get serious with my bow again this year, (just couldn't build the strength). So this dude will be just great in my eyes. I just wanted an idea of the score, I can't even come close to scoring what I want to shoot. They GROW AND GROW when I want them ! thx all

That's a nice buck, especially with a bow. Good luck arrowing him. I'm looking forward to seeing some field pics.

I beg to differ. Fall 2011 i shot a 4x4 with split brow tines. Without the split brows the buck grossed 167 5/8 with the split brows he went 178 1/8 gross and netted 175 7/8

Don't be surprized if he goes into the 150's. A shooter in my books

You have pics AB Shedhunter? Love the big 4x4s and it would take one heck of buck to score like that...Congrats!

A little bit of facts on 8 points, only 36 have made the minimum 170" to make it into the Boone and Crockett all time record books as of 2012.

I don't doubt that, I have an 8 point that grosses 176 and change but only nets 159-7/8. It has 30" main beams and 22" inside spread, it truely takes a monster 8 to make the book, that's all I'm saying. Out of the 1000's of deer in the B&C books, only 36 are 8's.

26 in beams , 6 1/2 bases ,no other circumferences under 5 . Deceiving , i know. The mass makes every thing look short. Of course the 10 in of junk helps.....

Your going to beg to differ? So your saying 4x4 score good?
Your buck would be an exception I never said they never score big but in general a impressive framed buck will score much less as a 4x4 than a 5x5.

I like big heavy fours that's why I said score is t everything killing a big mature 8 year old 4x4 that scores 145 is just as hard as shooting a 8 year old
6x6 that scores 175!

I do not count brow tines but then again that is just me. Then again maybe I should then at least I can say that most of my kills were 4x4 & 1 6x5....lol.

My 2011 4x4 buck. 25+ mainbeams, 9" brows, 13" g2, all mass between 5-3/8 & 5-7/8 except for his h-4's which are measured half the distance between the last tine and his end of mainbeams. Those measure 3-1/2" respectively

I have 4 sets of sheds off this buck including 2 singles. He was in the low 170's as a clean 4x4 buck a year prior. Before that he was a solid 150" & 160" deer. Houndogn's buck has a bigger frame than the sheds of mine from a few years back. Pull the trigger if given the opportunity, you won't be disappointed!

Great buck ASH no doubt a dandy and a shooter one of the biggest 4x4's I have ever seen.

Still looking at it I don't see a 178" deer
I can only get to 160 gross

Love the mass though!!!

Still looking at your buck as a 178" deer next to the one pictured I cant see it going 150 your mass main beams brows and G2's are where you get your score ...all of which are just average on the OP's buck.
