Default Beer Can Hunters & ATVers

So whats the point drinking beer while hunting or ATVing?

They go thru so much trouble hauling it deep in the bush & have no problem carrying it until they're done drinking it & then its a burden to carry so they chuck it in the bush. Built permanent stands on public land with their trail cam right beside yet under it is a bunch of cans or empty camp propane bottles or other garbage. I was about 2km into the bush & i wish i brought a garbage bag i could of had 10$ in bottles. Walked up to his trail camera holding an empty beer can giving the thumbs down.

Next time i go thru there ill make sure i have a bag & maybe ill leave a note in the stand to clean up your garbage.

If you want to be a dumb@$$ & drink while hunting or ATVing, clean up your garbage im sure im not the only one who is disappointed when i see this.

Maybe i can encourage others when your out scouting or looking for sheds or going for quad rides thru the bush this year to bring a garbage bag with you so we can clean up after these idiots even tho we shouldn't have to.

Their beer cans scattered through out bush is bad enough but when they leave large black garbage bag form hunting camp thrown into the trees for a bear to chew through, then I see red.

No kidding OP. I and others have been complaining about this for years, and it only seems to be getting worse. It's one thing to do a little cleanup while your on the river bank waiting for your bell to ring, but I normally can't pick up all the garbage I see while walking through the bush.
Just an observation, but I see more Tim Hortons garbage then any other type.

I am also amazed how deep in the bush I find Tim Hortons cups. I am always packing out other people's garbage it seems, good lesson for the boy though.

My neck of the woods there is much less beer cans and other garbage left behind than there used to be. Seems people are becoming more responsible as time goes on.

People keep talking about respect but they don't show any. Government keeps closing more trails, the logical consequence, tough to have any sympathy. " We're respectful" , give me a break. Guaranteed to be a mess again after the upcoming long weekend, can hardly wait.

Think the OP is simply venting...and I couldn't agree more! Drives me nuts to head out and find a ton of garbage in the bush...idiots figure that if they have shot the hell out of it they can just leave it there. Disappointing really...

To me it matters not what kind of litter it is just the fact that it's their bothers me. Was out at the bait site on Thursday and garbage all over the roads from random camping. I'm all for camping in the back country but for goodness sake people, leave it better than you found it!

I agree. My family random camps pretty much exclusively. It usually takes us 30-45 minutes to pick up all the garbage left behind by the previous campers before we even get set up. I keep a butt load of garbage bags in my camper for this reason. Diapers, tin cans, broken camping chairs and just garbage seem to be the most common.

Many of us wish what you say wasn't true. I bet the first ones to scream about trail closures are the garbage flinging, OHV in stream playing, wetland destroying members.

On the other hand, it is up to those who actually value wilderness and conservation to keep calling out those that destroy it and won't respect it.

You seem to forget that many hunters are slobs that leave garbage and crap
In the bush.

Your blinded by your own biases. Look in the mirror at your own group before slinging mud at others.

Our group works on the premise that it is easier to pack it out than pack it in... things are usually lighter and take less space. Don't assume that your practices are those of responsible hunters, campers or hikers.

Most hunters I associate with are not slobs, and despise those that are. You don't last long in our camp circle if you are a slob. In fact, the vast majority of hunters I know feel the same way.

And then there is the OHV crowd. It somehow seems to have not adopted great ethics.

As well as the above, last year some idiot cut a bunch of alders and willows at an angle making a bunch of Punji stick traps just what someone needs to fall on in the dark setting up camp late in the day.

On a side note have paid for a few hunt/fishing trips cleaning up a few off rig site drinking spots.

It would never be the hunters doing that!! Hunters would pack everything out that they haul into the bush because they are not lazy and they are all about keeping the bush in prestine condition for the future generations. It's all the other user groups that make the messes.
