Default Cattle Rustling

It seems we have a real problem in the south here with cattle going missing, and you wonder why land owners don't want to give permission. I know two of the ranchers missing about 300 head in the last five years. Lets see about $800 per yearling at 300 head that is about $240000 lost I sure hope they catch who ever is doing this. The ranchers catch trespassers lots during hunting seasons down this way, and are told by these people that they have the right to be out there and It may be is some of the innocent law abibbing people on this board as well!! I'm not saying that hunters are stealing the cattle, but I can see why they don't allow people on their land.

I've seen TV spots where biologists are tracking whatever critter they're studying with radio transmitter implants. I imagine such a thing could work in cattle quite well.... but at whatever cost the set-up would be ....would it be affordable? I'm sure a significant loss of these cattle is from predation, be it coyotes, wolves or even bear, though I'm sure there is a human element in there as well.

If Ralph Klein ran a cattle ranch and he caught a rustler red-handed, do you think he'd shoot, shovel and shut up?

Default Liners

I've spoken with ranchers just south of Calgary who say it happens, even cattle liners loading up at night. I agree with hangin em high if they're caught!

Maybe it will be the outdoorsmen that can help this situation out more eyes in the field to report anything out of the ordinary. Make a good headline hunters help catch cattle rustlers.

I would think that rustlers would prefer that no hunters are around to see them stealing cattle.Keeping hunters out,may actually be helping the rustlers to conceal their crimes.

so if i came to your house in the middle of the night and stole your car, that would be your fault for not paying more attention?
