Default Cooper rifles?

Anyone own a cooper custom rifle? Are they worth the extra $? How would they compare to a Sako finlite 85? All comments welcome.

Default Cooper

I have a Cooper Varminter in 6.5x284 and I have only broke the barrel in with factory ammo. I can put 10 shots touching at 100yrds. Thats with factory ammo shooting off my backpack. Very nice wood and trigger.

Yup you pay a lot of money for that beutiful wood. Love to have one but i just dont see myself always worrying about scratching the stock when hunting. All my rifles have synthetic so i dont have to worry about hunting hard with them. That said they are beutiful and very accurate rifles.

Pretty hard to compare a pretty wood gun to a stainless synthetic gun. Pretty limited cartridge selection with the Cooper but I've heard nothing but good about them. Not my style of rifle but if you are looking at a wood stocked rifle, they are worth a look for sure.

Not My style either,They are a really Robust Firearm.I still like them though, but would rather spend $2000.00 on something i'll be more happy with.Plus you are right about limited cartridges, but that will change with cooper in Time.

Default cooper rifles

I was looking at the Excaliber with a synthetic stock on their web site. I do not want to scratch the wood either and I am rough on a rifle. Looks like I have to go to Lloyd to see one. Thank you for your comments. Anyone else have any comments?

I currently own three Jackson Hunters in 280AI and 22lr with a fourth in 17mach2 on order.I also used an Excaliber in 280AI briefly. All are very well made, and so far all have proven to be quite accurate.

If they'd put a McMillan on them they'd have something.

The stocks that they do use are actually of decent quality. If they would use Mcmillans, they would be very close to my idea of the perfect factory rifle. As it is,they aren't that far off.

The action shape is quite similar, but with a shorter bolt throw due to a three lugged bolt, and a better designed bolt release and safety.
