Default Cleaning Antler Sheds

Hey folks, I just got a package in the mail from a friend in BC. She sent me three very large pairs of deer antler sheds. I cut them up and give them to my dog to chew on. One pair are very fresh and clean. The other four may have been laying in the forest for a while and have some moss and lichen on them. Does anyone know an effective and safe (for my dog) way to clean them. Thought about a wash with bleach but concerned that it may be harmful to my dog. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dogs eat things that have been burried in the ground all the time. I think you would ruin the taste by washing those precious treasures.

^^^^. Hose 'em off is the only thing you could do. I can't imagine a friend sending them to you so that you can cut them up for dog bones......but that is just me thinking

Pressure washer should do the trick. Could soak them for a day or two first. Then wash.

Was told not to give older antlers to my dog as they are brittle and could do damage to the dog

Use a wire brush or wire wheel.

Hey Trapper, great thought. Something I hadn't considered. May hang the old ones in the shop. They last for a long time so I suspect that the fresh set will last me a few years.

Thanks also to everyone else who replied. Good ideas. Plan to brush them with wire wheel and give a pressure wash.
Thanks all.
