Browning BLR Takedown

Has anyone removed the barrel extension on a BLR Takedown barrel, the end that fits into the receiver? I had an xray done on mine and it shows threads. Would like to take it apart and have a new barrel made. Any insight on this would be very much appreciated before I learn the hard way.
