Default Skunk spray

Daughter's dog got sprayed by a skunk last evening. What's the recommended stink remover? It's an indoor/outdoor dog so something has to be done. Thanks for the replies.

Most pet stores have skunk shampoo that works, never
Tried any of the home remedies like tomato juice, peroxide etc.

Commercial stuff from the pet stores works good for a bath.

Tomato juice - even if it works - would just make a big mess.

A spray bottle with a spray-able mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and a few drops of Sunlight detergent mixed up will get things under control until you can get the pooch in the bath.

Keep the eyes covered while spraying.

This concoction worked well for my lab,let it sit on the dog for about 5-10 minutes then shampoo with sunlight or what ever dish soap you have ,I have used dawn also.
Goggle my dog was sprayed by a skunk and you should find it.
Good Luck

One litre hydrogen peroxide, one tablespoon baking soda and a squirt of dish soap. Lather in and rinse. Guaranteed to work. I wash skunks in that concoction and they just smell like wet fur afterwards.

X2. This works.
You need to break down the oil to kill the smell.
I've substituted a degreaser for dish soap and had good results on skunk pelts.
I have a friend that operates a dog kennel and he swears by perm nutralizer but I haven't tried that yet.

X3 we keep 2 gallons of hydrogen peroxide in the house at all times(London Drugs will bring it in bulk for you cheap). Lots of skunks in our area. Kills most of the smell, but you will get a wiff of skunk now and then from the dog.
