Default cheap outfitter/hunting tents?

hey everyone, really looking into getting into winter camping with luxury.
used to make quince's but just got myself a small wood burning stove that's collapseable and am wanting to get myself a decent hunting/outfitter tent.

not wanting anything ridiculously big, something that i could set up in 20-30mins and would just use it for the weekend or for a longer period in a pinch.

i got myself one of those Canadian tire tent shelters that's 10x10' but i feel it would have a draft through it.

hoping to stay under 500, anyone have any recommendations?

Check with Forestry. A lot of times they will have wall tents for sale. Best to contact their main warehouse on 107 St. & 120 Ave. in Redmonton for availability. Several friends got decent wall tents this way for a good price.

Let us know what you come up with. I've been debating getting a wall tent for hunting.

The buy sell on this forum should be a place to start. Type in the search feature "wall tent" and you will see what's available and a price range.

I understand that AB Forestry sends all of their surplus tents to auction. I bought a couple of their tents off the auction site. Canvas 12x14' with 3.5' - 4' side walls and stove hole opening etc.

PM me if interested with your ph# and I can share with you the details of the condition features etc. I'm looking to upsize it and I wouldn't need 2 tents. Pic is of tent and the other is of the pole system we used to use for it

I have owned quite a few outfitter tents. I just sold my last one, a 25 year old old Norseman 10x12 that was in pristine shape and was made when Norseman was still an excellent tent. Back then they were made of heavy canvas, had the yellow heavy canvas roofs, 4 seam interlocked stitching and double gusset tie downs. I sold it for $850, which is a lot more than some of the new tents that size.

There is a BIG difference in tent quality. Seams, material, zippers, chimney opening materials, flame and waterproofing, etc all come into play. A good quality used tent is a far better deal than a brand new poor quality one at the same price. Learn how to tell a good one from a bad one before you buy.

Keep an eye kijiji. I got a 12'x14'x3.5' tent for $200. Had no pole and a bit stained but all in all in great shape. It has a screened window in the back wall and a zip up screen door which will be nice to keep the bugs out. I seen that and jumped on it asap. So deals are out there just be patient
