Default looking for remington 700 short action

where can i start looking for a short action to build or buy a rifle just for the action and stock

I would probably look for a rifle with a shot out barrel, or a broken stock, or something not action related, that brings down the price.

The right vintage 700 will get you a Walker trigger and maybe even a bolt locking safety if you are into those.

Looking at those advertised for $1000 makes my 70's and 80's complete actions with Walker triggers, mag parts and bottom metal worth at least $1200 each.....LOL

If I could get that for them I wouldn't bother putting barrels in them.

At north of 1000$ by the time it lands at your door for a base action if you ended up doing some action work while having a barrel installed your only a couple hundred away from a custom action like a KS wolverine/Pierce/Stiller etc. Depending on the smith you might even be slightly over
