Pump action shotgun suggestions?

Took everyone’s advice and went and handled all the guns. I knew instantly I was going with the Benelli supernova the second I shouldered it at cabelas. And it’s on sale so added bonus. Thanks for everyone’s input.

I had one for awhile. You won't go wrong with a Nova.

Any reason why Winchester SXP is not on your short list? I have one with an 18” and one one with a 28” barrel. I am completely happy with both and would buy them again.

Can second the sxp for anyone else who is looking for one. Currently looking for a 18" barrel tho.

Good choice, supernova is a solid choice, my cousin has one.

Other cousin has an express and I do like the way it shoots as well. How it's built, not sure on the quality of parts.

Sx3's are great if you ever want a semi in the future, that's what I'm shooting

Good choice.
I went this year with Benelli Supernova Ducks Unlimited edition from Cabelas when was on sale for 780 (with 70 $ worth of gun case ) It has 42% recoil reducing stock as compared to Nova so I tried 3.5 " shells this year and recoil was fine.

At one point 3" and 3.5" steel shells had higher payload (more pellets) but velocity was slower than 2.75 " shells, but now I see the advantage of using those magnums as velocity is the same as shorter shells.

IMO minimum velocity for steel should be 1550 ft/sec.

I've decided to get a pump as my semiauto Beretta had some trouble cycling in some pea fields when fine dust got into action.

If somebody is on market for a used Remington Express keep in mind that they don't recommend using 3" shells unless the receiver is marked MAGNUM despite that barrel is chambered for 3".
If you want to shoot 3.5 " shells it should be marked supermagnum.

I bought a Winchester XPS 12 gauge and love it. I was trying to decide between a Remington or Winchester, due to the ease of getting parts. When I learned that Remington went bankrupt (again) I bought the Winchester and have no regrets. Its light, was about $650 and is supposed to enable faster cycling of the pump action. It even came with 3 chokes. I know buying a gun based on the 'ease of getting parts' is a weird approach. I have just learned that when a Benelli or Baretta, or anything else needs to be fixed (fingers crossed) it can take 6 months to get the parts you need.

I was looking for a semi last year and was at the 700 dollar budget. I went with a tristar viper G2, was on sale for 529.99 regular 729.99
This past year I put probably 300 rounds through it, not a huge round count but it works flawlessly to date. Reviews are good and customer service is suppose to be very good. I just seen one in the Peace River CT and the price went up to 849.99,
It does what I need it to do

I like the mossberg 500 field model. Good shotgun, good price, definitely not fancy but it works well.

300 rounds is barely broken in, when you get to 5000, you will have a better idea of reliability. And if you need parts in a couple of years, that may be interesting.
