Default 300 WBY Handloads

Planning on working up a load for my 300 weatherby mag. I’m new to reloading so this will be all new to me. I have been doing a bit of research on powders etc. Does anyone have recommendations on a temperature stable powder that works well in magnums? Nosler load data recommends IMR 4831. Most of my hunting is late November. As far as bullets go I managed to get my hands on some 168gr accubond LR. Not ideal as I’d like to load the heavier 190gr but you have to start somewhere. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I’d be looking at h1000 or h4831 sc
Better temp stability

I've always used H4831 in a 300 wby. It's always worked so never used anything else. I'm sure your IMR will work as well. Give it a go and see

When I loaded for mine it was H4831 with 180gr nosler accubond, but it did like H1000 also but it was hard to come by a lot of the time

Just did some load development for a friends .300 wby.
Hornady 212gr Eldx ,80.6 gr IMR 7828 , coal 3.724” chrony avg 3022fps, std dev of only 3.

Nosler 180 gr Accubond , 84.5 gr IMR 7828 , coal 3.699” chrony avg 3277 fps, std dev of 5.

Played around with h4831 but IMR 7828 produced beter velocity and better groups. Hope this helps.

Hodgson site is very conservative with its load data . In 6.5 prc it has 57.7 gr H1000 as max load and im running 63.0 gr with 0 pressure sign.

84.5 Grains of 7828 with a 180 Grain Nosler Partition gives me an accurate 3224 FPS. What more could I ever need.
