Default The Butcher's

Hello just wondering how long does it take to process a Elk or Moose at the Butcher and how much does it cost... rough estimate? Mind you gutted and skinned...

Do you just want a cut / wrap job, or sausage, jerky, etc.? $.99 / pound for a cut / wrap job is probably a figure to use for an estimate. Don't expect to pay much less, but you might pay more.

How long would depend on the butcher and how busy they are... anywhere from a week to a month or two.

at the shop I work at its 0.90$ per pound for cut/wrap, 3.5$ ish per pound for jerky and sausage, 0.10$ per pound for vacuum pack, and 1.5$ per box. if you bring the critter in September before the rush hits your cut/wrap could be done in a day, after the specified hanging time of course, and your jerky and sausage could be done in two or three days. if you bring it in late November, December it could take a month, maybe two. hope that helps, also our shop has fairly low prices compared to many, I think.

Totally depends on where you go. Got a mule deer done with a place that uses organic pork cost me near 800, that was the most expensive I have paid.

Go to Vulcan Country Meat Market. $0.70/lb for cutting and wrapping. Sausage and jerky are extra...

Just had my cow elk done in Tofield. Took about a week. 260lbs hanging cost just over $500 for garlic sausage, pepperoni, smokies, roasts, and stew. Didn't do any jerky though.
