Camp Wainwright Bull Moose - Help
Hello everyone.
I was drawn for Bull Moose in Camp Wainwright for the primitive weapon hunt which starts Thursday. I have never hunted Moose, but have been on the base four times for the deer hunts. If any one has some advice on where to hunt moose on the base, it would greatly be appreciated. I am going to take the first bull I see as my Whitetail quest has fallen short this year and would like some meat in the freezer.
thanks!

first morning go and study the kill maps from previous years, they will put you right into the heart of the moose.

I would start on the anex. Go left at the Y. lots of bush in that area. Another possible area would be along the river bottom. But that's just a suggestion, Im sure there are people on here who have done the moose hunt. Good Luck!

Last year when we were there for the deer hunt, we saw nearly as many moose as deer. They were just about everywhere. You won't have a problem connecting with a bull moose. Unless something drastic happened to the population. Just make sure your moose is in a location where he'll be easy to deal with before you pull the trigger.

Moose
I've hunted the base many times and I seem to see lots of moose on the north west side up by the lake. Actually not all that far from the hunter check station. If you don't get one by the time last rifle hunt comes around give me a shout, 780-728-8495 and I'll give you a hand. I've got the last deer draw.

Hi, I have hunted the base before and I make trips to wainwright fairly often. When I was on the base we had seen many on the south side west from the annex. My wife works in wainwright and travels the highway every day and she seems to see them quite often on the south end. When I hunted the base for deer a couple years ago we seen quite a few on the south west corner also.

Anhorn - Thanks for hot tip! ill be sure to post a pic if I am fortunate enough to harvest one. If I am not mistaken, I believe Heart Hill is in the south part of the camp.
thanks again!

Heading out with my wife for bull as well.
Only get 2 days to hunt, she has an exam in calgary friday morning that can not be changed. Such a bummer to lose the day but it is what it is.
The Good Lord Willing, she will get her first moose.

Fresh snow. Buddy's daughter got 2 moose with her truck a few days ago driving through there so I'm guessing there are tooooo many. Luck to those going.

Lots of fresh snow and finally some cold. Those moose will be everywhere tomorrow. Honestly there are moose in every section. There will be training going on some some areas will be closed be prepared. Have a plan A, B and C.
Personally I would hunt Peregrines, Bs,Cs H3/4 and J1/3. Lots of trails to get around and some areas to glass.
If you're struggling to find one ask at the check station to narrow down the search pattern.
