Default Morinville Remembrance day gong show

Just got home from the service here in Morinville. The lack of respect and pure ignorance of most people in todays society is pathetic. Construction clowns next door working away hammering and sawing during the last post and O Canada, people driving around the barricades and through the ceremony. No police or sheriff presence enforcing street closures, people talking and laughing during the Last post and O Canada. The speakers were so bad that you could'nt hear a word being said during the service and the guy on the bugle for the Last Post and the Rouse could'nt carry a note in a bucket and messed it up terribly. Next year I'm taking the family to the butterdome. Morinvilles production was a litany of bungling! What a friggin shame!

You were there for the right reasons and you showed your respect in the manner it should be shown. Don't let other peoples lack of respect ruin the reasons why you were there.

Always disappointing when respect can't be managed by a few for just a moment.

Not a bad show at the Old Strathcona cenotaph this AM. A service at Holy Trinity Anglican for the Sally Horse then a march to the new stone behind the old Connaught Armory.
The canned music was a bit of a turn-off - especially when there was a real live piper warming up somewhere back in the neighborhood. I'm sure they will get it straightened out.
Not a lot of wreaths laid. Shame on the Southside Business Association for not buying one. Same goes for those greedy Whyte Ave. bar owners.
Still a fine and touching ceremony. Sure the Strathcona Legion guys got their flags tangled up in a tree at the march off. But something like that is always going to happen.
The guns booming across the river at the Legislature were an definite asset.
Lest We Forget.

We stopped in at Smitty's for b-fast after hunting this morning and at 11:00, one of the waitresses asked everyone for a moment of silence. The entire restaurant fell silent. It was nice.

Or ... lodge a formal complaint, and resolve to be a part of the solution.

That's what I would do,

Already done, email generated and sent! Like you said, if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

I appreciate all the wreath laying but think it gets a little long when all the local grocery shops use it as an opportunity for free advertising. " this wreath brought to you by bobs IGA where milk is only 299 a litre, bobs IGA remembers" Maybe I'm just getting lazy or loosing focus.

'Good' on you ... Go For It!

You're a well experienced soldier, and you know how to get things done. I'm guessing Rememberance Day in Morinville will be a much improved experience next year.

'Hats Off' to you, Sir!
