Default For Sale: Muskrat Colony Traps

This is my first Spring trapping muskrats and I went way overboard on making colony traps so I have some to sell. I had planned on trapping drainage ditch but they are too flooded out and the plan changed. I'm now making floating traps to use on a lake instead.

I've got brand new 1"x1" 16 gauge wire cut to make 6"x6"x30"L ready to bend and J clip but I can make the traps smaller if requested. The traps are well built and there's a member of the forum that has been catching a ton of rats using them......no names, no pack drill.

If anyone wants any I'll sell them for $15 each.....any size up to 6"x6"x30". If you give me a day's notice I'll have them made for you. I don't mind holding them for you for a bit if you can't pick them up right away. Located in Morinville, about 20 kms north of St Albert.

What's a good size?
Do you make the round ones for Culverts?

No, I'm not making the round ones this year Nube, but you could line the whole bottom of the culvert with traps if you wanted to. I've been told that the rats generally travel along the side of the culvert anyway so I'll likely put 2 on each side of it. Pointer is using the 6"x6"x30" ones and he's had 5 or 6 in some traps. I'm holding on to a bunch of 6"x6"x30" and 5"x5"x24" partly because they fit inside of each other and are easier to haul around. For culvert I'd say that the bigger ones are better because they'll hold more rats and length is not an issue. The shorter ones would probably be better in ditches where you don't want the end of the trap sticking out too far. That's my thinking anyway.

6x6 and 5x5 would be my choice theirs some places that I just got enough water to cover my 6" traps I have to dig them down even a 5Hx6W would be slick as well that way you would fill the run but still be under the water without having to dig down

Still have some left to sell/trade if anyone needs any.

I'd be interested in trading for #1 leg hold and/or 330 body grip traps but I might be interested in other trapping related items as well.

I still have three 6"x6"x30" colony traps left if anyone wants to get the jump on Fall muskrat trapping. If there's enough interest I'll make a bunch up this summer.
