Default Bedding scope mounts.

Just bedded this set this morning. I polished past wax on top of the receiver and waxed the screws. The front ring/base is snugged down and the back one is loose with rings in place. In theory this should take most of the stress out of the system and keep the bases from moving under recoil. I’ll probably leave the bases in place, degrease the mounting holes and then thread lock the new base screws in place with Vibra-tite

I'm curious why the rear base screw (looks to be there in the picture) is left loose while things set?

To allow horizontal alignment.

And what was the improvement from pre “bedding rings”(?) to post?

We will find out I guess. I have lapped the rings. Im torn on the necessity of that step. But it is done. The scope will go on in the coming days.
