Dodge hemi engine light. 4x4

Hi, looking for advice for my friend in Calgary.
2012 dodge hemi 4x4. 130,000 km
Engine light came on. Engine is running rough.
He took it to a mechanic. Mechanic saw code
8 and 9. Friend not exact sure of those codes.
Mechanic changed
cam shaft sensor and crankshaft sensor.
No change. Mechanic thinks timing chain might
have jumped a cog. And wants to take that apart
for $1100 dollars. Maybe my friend should take it
to a dodge shop in Calgary?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
