Default Mandatory CWD submission. Now what

Hi guys and gals
Had my mulie head set outside the garage and todays project was to remove skull plate and wrap up to take for testing. Some one or something decided they wanted it more than I and it grew legs overnight. I had already done my survey but now have no head for the mandatory submission. Not a great buck, like about 145" so not sure why anyone would steal it.
What to do now about submission to Fur and Feathers.
Glad the wifes WT head was still inside.

Did it ever occur to you to just give them a call and see what you can work out? Maybe they can test another part of the deer.

I would call F&W to report it otherwise you might have some questions to answer if they put it together. They would be able to give you advise as to how best proceed.

Maybe take a good look around the property in case a dog dragged it off somewhere for later.

Please call F&W and ask.

I'm interested in what F&W can do if a head from a mandatory testing unit is not submitted.

Nothing in the Wildlife Act or anywhere else that I've seen.

I suspect that "Mandatory" in this case holds the same same weight as when Karen tells you what must be done.

There have been more than a few heads go missing from the drop off freezers over the years. I have never heard of F and W ,making a bid deal out of it, as long as you talk to them.

Sounds like there are two concerns here - CWD test results (which can’t be completed without the head - they need lymph nodes and the brain stem) and then the legal requirement for head submission.

On the second point, the best advice is above: call the duck cops and try to work it out with them.

I don’t advocate breaking the law and I believe in the importance of our regulations, but I also don’t see how the government would know it wasn’t submitted.
