Gophers out
Took a run out to standard, and gophers out big time on the snow, could not get access to the regular meadows because of the snow, one farmer had a road plowed, I shot 16 but had the wrong gun, the marlin, not good , or effective over 80m, although after 6 shots, managed one at 160m.
The CZ with the 17hmr barrel is the answer, as there was a lot of gophes at 150 -200m.
The farmer came home late, and said take the skido, looks like another 1st hunting gophers with a snow machine, next trip for sure.

gopher
Actually I dont know of any. Not to worry however, most farmers very receptive to the gopher shooter. This a good time for recon, driveing to Stratmore yesterday I saw must be 50 on the snow, See an area with lots tap on the farmers door, of course be very careful to close gates, and not to drive on wet meadows-- be very careful of your shot, I have seen the dust fly from the lowly 22 several hundred meters away, after a ricochet. good luck.

Gophers
There is no crown land around Calgary but most farmers are ok with going onto thier land for gophers if you ask nicely.

I personally dont know of any guideing as such---Lots of farmers looking for shooters, dont really need a truck, rifle and bullets, and your in business.

Dude.... U don’t need crown land, just head east and politely ask permission. Put in a little bit of effort and you might just find a gem of a spot that you can go back to year after year.

Sure not seeing any in the Edmonton and east area out yet. Too cold and too much snow still.

Took a trip down to southern Montana about a week and a half ago and there were lots of gophers and prairie dogs out on top of the snow. Those male prairie dogs that are out now are BIG. Should be fun in about six weeks !!!
We'll be there.

Bahahahah
Playing a little seesaw with this guy in my downspout.
Too fat to fit out the bottom when lifted.

Still quite a bit of snow in the fields but got 9, was quite surprised to see that many up. About 1" drift on a cross wind, mostly long range but the .17 handled it well.

Gophers in crown.
Typically the crown doesn’t own a lot of pasture/farm land so there aren’t much opportunity to shoot gophers there. My experience has been Best to try and find local farmer/ranchers that have a gopher problem.
