Was out near Fort Sask Apr 3rd, got about 150 specks in about 12 pans, pictured.
Last week we ran the mini 28" x 6" bucket dumper sluice, got about 3-4x as whats pictured.
Not a whole lot, but its fun to see something.

The Mcleod river north of Peers has shown good color thru the times. I think there is even a celebration around there in the summer called 'Golddust Daze' (days).

Gold panners be alert when you are panning and sluicing around Alberta. The first article in this Gov't publication is what I am refering to. You never know what you might find.. Interesting mention about a find east of Edmonton.

I know this thread is about gold panning but we Albertans do need to realize that we live in a province that has not been explored for all minerals. I have posted about diamonds in this thread. Who is to say that Alberta doesn't have diamonds in the rough. The opdahl diamond was found in a field by Evansburg.
Maybe we have an area like this park in Arkansas. Dirt field diamonds.

A young girl just found a 3.85 carat yellow canary diamond there recently. People find them regularly. About 400 diamonds found over 37 acres in 2013.
Gold panners should learn to look for diamonds too.

There have been many kimberlites discovered in Alberta, some bearing diamonds, but so far none with economic amounts. Hopefully one day soon someone finds one!

I bought sapphire concentrate down in Montana

Lots of fun panning it out for sapphires and garnets and hematite.

Where can one find a pan suitable for this? Might be a good way to kill an afternoon or so when camping.

Bedrock supply in Edmonton sells panning supplies. I'm sure if you google "gold pans for sale" in Alberta you will find some.

About 144 shovelfuls to the yard. So if you can find some ground that has 20 dollars of gold to the yard..... Each shovelful will get you about 13.8 cents a shovelful. Like money in the bank.
