Modified join dates

I noticed that there seems to be a lot of people who have their first posts recently but have join dates sometimes 5 years old. is it possible to modify join dates or are they just that estrictive in posting?

Yep they hate the place and how it's run, but will try to sneak back every chance they get.
Wonder why they don't just smarten up before they get banned?

I never posted before, I just read past and current comments. Usually find what I am looking for by searching through old posts. On a lot of these boards people just tend to get into arguments over personal opinions so I do not like to get involved.
