With this cold weather, I'm sure there is atleast 12" of ice by now. I'll be driving on on Sunday.

I suspect after this weekend when the weather breaks, there will be some new reports.....
I look forward to reading the fun and successes.... Sadly, I am a little house bound for now...
Thanks in advance,

I might give it a go this weekend. Other lakes in the area had around 18 inches in the bays last week.

January 10, 2022....CVR
CVR
- Wide open at the north end (didn't go to the south end)
- Access easy (all I saw were pick-up trucks, no cars or vans??)
- solid 24" of really hard ice
- lots of vehicles
- fishing was moderate; mostly all pike but two walleye
- open blue sky
- +8C all day
- roads from Calgary to CVR were all dry and clear

No sorry......NO OPEN WATER....solid 24"of ice...
When I typed in wide open I meant lots of room, no obstacles, plenty of room to drive, easy access etc....
Sorry for the confusion, I'll be sure to word my entry better in the future....

Do you know how the access at the red rock is on the west side?
How deep were you fishing?

Sorry no comment on the red rock???
We were in 12'....
Note: Make sure your tent is well anchored.....the wind can catch you off guard.
Good luck,

Measured 26" at the South end today. Ice thicker than the length of my longest Walleye, but nowhere near my pike.

Two buddies went out on two separate days last week and both got skunked, not even a bite.
They threw everything they had at them and; one big goose egg.
They were there early and left late.
One thing of note, they were in 10-12 feet of water at the north end.
In some areas the water was clear as a bell and other areas dark and murky. As for the muddy water I don't recall hearing of any current in CVR or any reason for the poor visibility?
Any thoughts on that?

Possibly dead vegetation that is now decomposing. Seen it in past years when set up in the marina area at CV which had lots of weeds decomposing.

We caught 13 pike and 5 walleye in about a hour and a half on Tuesday. Arrived around 16:30 and it was insane right till dark. Then slowed down. 2 people 4 lines.
