Another Draw Question - lose priority??
Quick question folks. I've looked and can't seem to find where it says at what point do you lose your draw priority after not applying. I know you can miss one year (as I've done that often) What about 2?
I'm priority 2 this year for Cow Elk and Priority 6 for Antlered Elk. Problem is I have a shot at a cow with priority 2 and would like to put in for that but my Antlered Elk was last bumped in 2011 to a 6. So if I don't apply for Antlered in 2013 it would be a 2 year lapse instead of just 1. I'd hate to lose that priority.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

You don't lose your priority rating if you don't apply for a year. I haven't applied for WMU 300 elk for a few years, but my priority has remained the same.

Hi Scott
Thanks for the info, that's what I hoped but I'd not gone more than every second year before so wasn't sure.

draw priority stays with that WIN number, I shot a Bull Moose a few years ago on a P7, thought the next year I would start putting in for Cow as it usually (then) only took P2-3 here, shocked when I got it the first year, turns out, I had applied for Cow a couple times, many years ago in the Brazeau, got transferred from the area and forgot about it..

Perfect, thanks Hal! That's even better news. I'll let my Antlered Elk tag ride and not worry about it. I'm not quite high enough to guarantee a cow elk draw but I have permission this year so I'll take my 50/50 chance.

you aren't supposed to lose it ever....but I know it has happened. a P3 disappeared on me after not applying for several years. that was a few years back and Im told it is fixed now.....but i print off everything every year now. i was told if i could provide proof i could have fixed my situation....but who the hell thinks of that at the time?

And his post told pincherguy that info, did it? Some people.....
Maybe Pincher didn't know so he asked a question to be answered, but again you feel the need to act like a child.

I think what happens is that AlbertaRelm only shows your priority history going back 6 years, but you shouldn't ever lose your priority

Or there are people out there that do not apply for the draws so they do not know, or care to know, all the rules that apply to the draw system.
You drive a vehicle, but do you know all the rules when it comes to the DOT?? Maybe you and EVERYBODY should know thoes rules, with your logic.
You guys must feel better to come on here, and thump your chest, and try and act like you are the hunting gods, and everybody should be as good as you.
And for somebody who is spouting off about knowing the rules, If I remeber correctly you have come on here and asked for some clarification on the system as well.. I wouldnt expect that from a new albertan who knows ALL the RULES, hey grinr??

Yes,I can see how it might be confusing.
Antlered Elk
Antlerless Elk
Either Sex Elk
WMU 300 Elk
A resident may apply for only one elk licencefrom this list of 4.
Seems pretty clear and straight forward.....even for a new Albertan.

I stopped applying for trophy sheep, trophy antelope, turkey, and antler less elk when they got to priority 13. That was 2 years ago and i see this year all of the priorities are still there on my alberta realm page. I've printed the summary sheet out just in case, took me too much time (and more than a few bucks) to get there, so I better not lose them.
