Using fish cameras in the boat?
I know that when I am fishing and see huge gathering of fish and baitballs it would be great to send a camera down and take a look, but never have. Has anyone tried this? I did great catching lake trout last year, but would love to catch some walleye.

it works ok and you can get good image if its clear and as long as its not too choppy out otherwise you need to set up a balance rig... me and my buddy set one up with his studio equipment but thats 1500 for a stabilizer which most people wont have the money for something like that.

Id like to try mine out this summer too. maybe even drag it down to one of the sturgeon holes if Im in a boat and try and get a look at whats down there if it clears up enough. dont know if I want to try it for spring pike when they are extra aggressive though the cam looks way too realistic. unless I hang a hook on it.

My aqua vu has a stabilizing fin for open water, and I'm also excited to try it.

So does my MarCum. Seems like a pretty cool idea, as long as you know you're deep enough to not drag your cam across the bottom

Years ago the fisheries biologist @ Slave Lake "Dave" loaned my Dad and I his camera....we used it while trolling and it was a hoot. We never sent it down really deep though. My concern for a lake like Cold would be what sort of pressures the cam would take.

Ive got the aqua view. I duct taped my cam to a 25 foot aluminum pole and then put the pole through the rod holder in my boat, pull a blanket over your head cuase its easier to see. get your buddy to idle along or troll and footage is amazing. You'll ride up of schools 25 fish plus of walleyes.. its really neat

Would be interesting to try mounting it to the downrigger ball and watch your hook to see what's following !

Was gonna try that last year, but figured bringing up the ball manually pays the camera....well that's getting tricky. So with my new power walker...I'm definitely attaching the camera to the ball...
