Default gunsmith at Bashaw

Anyone have gunsmith work done at Bashaw? I want to have a rifle rebarreled and was thinking of sending it there. Any feed back?

I only had a sticking safety on a Winchester Model 70 fixed there, and picked them because they were (are still?) Winchesters warranty depot. Not major work, but quick turnaround. Nice folk there but I cannot comment specifically to your re-barreling question.

I phoned there the other day with the same question and was told 6 months minimum wait time.

From my own experience in trying to find a gun smith to rebarrel an action for me it seems as though they discourage customers who want this. The prices I was quoted were prohibitive for anything other than the most expensive of rifles and the turn around times were the same as if I requested a full rebuild.

The Shooters Edge gunsmith explained it to me that they have enough work building and repairing rifles right now that they don't want to take rebarreling jobs.

Good people, doing good work, but don't expect to have it back this fall.
