Default Corrosion problem

Posting for a friend at work:

We are having problems removing and keeping corrosion (rust) away from our Russian 7.62 x 54R SVT-40. We are shooting military surplus ammo (fMJ). Especially on the bolt face and barrel.

Any ideas or suggestions to mitigate these issues very welcome.

Thanks !!

This may seem obvious, but they do know the ammo is more than likely corrosive right? Are they neutralizing the corrosive salts after each shooting session followed by a normal cleaning? Anything the gas would come in contact with will need to be cleaned after shooting.

DGS if you want to keep the aesthetics of the original finish, or Cerakote/Arma-coat if you want a painted finish.
