Default Bit of good news

So I've got to share something that made me smile...

About 4 yrs ago I met a young man I'll call trampoline Luke...we were in the process of buying his family trampoline and his father mentioned that he was struggling badly in math...I was a volunteer tutor at the time.

We since have struck up a relationship, tutoring as often as 3 times a week since. Math did not come easily to him but he was very persistent and hard working. He recently texted that he got 78% on his finals for a course average of 76%, based on this he is in the process of joining the local fire dep't cadet program with an eye on becoming a first responder.

As I mentioned to his parents several times, he did all the work, I may have added some oil to the machine (paraphrasing from a favorite saying of an old French boss).

I recently texted back that I'm looking forward to him having a long career saving lives and rescuing cats from trees. Young folks like this make me very proud.

A bright spot in my day
Zeke

Great story, good to see the young man worked hard with a goal in mind. Good on you for helping him out.

That story put a smile on my face. Nice to hear a 'feel good" story instead of the numerous bad news that seem to be everywhere as of late.

There is a lot of great people out there that just gently coach/mentor others somthey can better themselves, great to hear your one of them.

Potential is always there.

That’s a nice story thank you for making this forum a lot brighter today. I could have used a Big Zeke in my high school years. Math and I never got along.
Thanks again for sharing...

That's awesome for him and you. It really does go to show that sometimes all one needs is a little help to become something great.

I never became anything great but I had a lot of help on the way to becoming mediocre.
