Default cabin

New cabin rules under PILAR are more cumbersome than in past. We built two line cabins in last 5 years, only required site plan, stay away from water and follow size restrictions, no foundations, must be further than 10 miles apart etc.

Built mine with no issues. Just have to have a plan and get pre approval.

in talking to Dave Kay with Fish and Wildlife, "the rules" you are referring to in the above posts were rolled out prematurely and without any thought to enforcement and legitimacy. Similar to the same draft rules regarding having to provide receipts for fur sales.

These rules show up in a couple of draft documents but the government has made it overly complicated. The land officers (not Fish and Wildlife Officer) would enforce cabins and cabin placement. The officers I talked to had no idea about the policy.

There was some talk about changes last year. Spruce had posted some good information in regards to this last September after attending the fall AGM.

You can read this link to a lot of the attachments and conversation around cabins. There was a post going through September with the same questions.
