Default Double buck

2015 while on a late season hunt in area 412, we had an unusual occurrence. Watching from a high ridge a modest white tail buck stood up at 220m in the middle of a large cut over area. My partner gave me the nod, i took the shot, and saw the bullet strike the snow just over his back, i worked the bolt and fired again he went down. Then to our amazement a small mule deer buck came running out from under the ridge, My partner tracked the running deer and fired, the deer went down. In a matter of minutes we had two deer. Small deer no doubt but beggars cant be choosers. The day before in area 314 we had filled doe tag. Lady luck was kind. That was not to be the case in the 2016 season.

Was hunting south of Oyen when a gnarly whitetail started fighting with a large mule deer. Had tags for both, so 2 quick shots and both dropped. Mule deer ended up scoring around 210. Warden stopped by as we were unloading deer into barn. I pointed out its head was all mule deer but he had a whitetail flag. After much discussion and some further examination her informed me that I could tag and score it either way. Antlers have a mix of main beams and rear forks.
