Default My Strathcona WT Buck

This is the buck that I took today and the first that I have taken in my life.

I could not have done this without the help of some very good friends who have taught me proper ethical hunting. It was an honour to have my friend sitting 75 yards away in another tree stand and have him watch me take the shot.

I waited for this guy to come in this morning and he did around 8am. He was oblivious to me in my tripod stand and he had his head down when he walked into about 40 yards. One shot from the remington 870 and he was down.

He made it about 30 yards before he fell over.

What a rush. I am certainly hooked on all things hunting now.

Very nice buck, you will never forget this one !! All the sweeter in that you could share the experience with a friend & mentor.

Congrats that's a nice buck. I'm still hoping to get one in Strathcona. Bow hunting has been a steep learning curve for me. Lol.

thats a great buck. i'm assuming a rem. 870 is a bow? i rattled in a nice buck in strath. today and missed with a slug. 20 min. later a group of bowhunters gave me some grief about using a shotgun on the weekend. i explained that the rules are different this year and we parted friends.

Remington 870 is a rifle barrelled shotgun.

I really do love that gun now.

Changed slugs and was dead on at 50 yards when sighted in.

Strathcona Whitetails! It's nice when you can hunt them in your backyard.
Well I should have a better look at this buck.Maybe I'll have to come pick up those bags.
And the 870 is what I use as well. I used to use my goose gun, an old win model 12. It didn't have a beed sight on the front but managed to be able to kill deer with it-I don't know how
Nice Whitey!

Nice one! Curious as to which slugs you use in your rifled barrel.
