stop ice dancing at your age
So my son says from Hamilton when he called. Probably one of the stupidest things I have done in a while. Mild weather so took water pails out to bait bucket and to llamas to top them up. Remember putting left foot out on the ice covered ground with door of truck open but don't remember putting right foot down. Next thing I know I am admiring the tread pattern on the nokia truck tire as I am too winded to get to my feet right away. Left arm (I guess trying to break my fall) is still above my head so hit full on left rib cage. No swelling or bruising that I can see but it is impossible to lay down last night so spent the night in the lazy boy grabbing a few winks here and there while practicing my deep breathing excercises as healthlink said to ensure I don't just do shallow breathing to avoid the discomfort. Bit better this afternoon but I think a T3 probably helped take the edge off. Did I say "OUCH" yes and a few other choice words.

Get used to the La-Z-Boy. I spent two weeks sleeping in mine after banging up my ribs in late Aug. A good idea to get X-rays just in case.

I’m trying to pour some bleach in my mind’s eye after having just pictured WWBirds in a sparkly spandex ice skaters costume.
I hope you mend up well, I know I personally avoid T3’s like the Dickens because their time-delayed side effect can be worse than what you’re taking them for!

Serious Ouch! Really hope you heal up and didn't bust anything! I had a similar one happen a few weeks back, I have a steep driveway which we keep really clean, but there must have been a patch of ice there....under the fresh snow. I ran out in my slippers to start the van up so it could warm up for work, and I remember almost getting the key in the door and suddenly laying on my back. Three point landing, bonked my head, right elbow and right hip. Hurt like a bugger. You would think I'd learn.

You might want to get an xray to show to your chiropracter later...
I took a fall on to my right shoulder about 4 years ago or so, hit hard on
the shoulder.
Here's a pic of an xray I "doctored up" with my own comments when I first
came down with pnemonia last Oct...
Only fell 5' or so, missed a step to the back deck in the dark, flashlight
turned off in my right hand, no way to catch my fall.
Felt like I tore out my right shoulder blade wing bone at the time.
I had 4 other xrays taken after this one, they all show the same spine
missalignment. Wasn't just the way I was standing.

Yes the Bambi ice dancing should be left to the younger ones and smaller that are built closer to the ground. Doesn't even have to be ice you step on it could be a piece of cardboard or clear plastic with a fresh skiff of snow on it. Been there done that and big pain was the result

I've done several Michael Jackson routines this winter but no falls. The splits hurt a lot more than they used to though.
A quick PeeWee Herman to the onlookers, "I meant to do that" and it's all good.

Reminds me of rushing to get a banquet delivered in Inuvik. Loading a Full foiled wrapped 6 " deep Hotel Pan of hot food into the back of a service van down a icy slope from the kitchen door. Feet went out and I landed on my back-food burning my stomach and slid under the rear axle trapped and unable to move with the screaming hot pan resting on my stomach and chest. Was calling for help , but was not easily visible.
Good Times
Some giggling Inuit Ladies trying to pull a fat guy up a icy slope by my head was a sight to behold

They were probably already quite experienced at hauling seals out of ice holes, who could ask for a more appropriate rescue crew? Excepting the gaff of course....
