Save those badger feet! Udo Steigerwold would gladly buy the claws, or you could just save them and give them to him, or find somebody that likes to bead and make necklaces, especially outdoorsy ones.

Claw care according to Udo... freeze feet whole, preferably, do not dry/mummify. If you want to do necklaces or prepare the claws for beading, skin the toe to the last joint and remove the skin, leave last digit bone attached whole to the claw, do not cut claw off, then clean away grease. Last dip in peroxide... the 30% kind that guys clean skulls with and then drill a hole thru the bone the correct direction so claw hangs proper. I think you want to dry the claw to the bone, so drill after drying.

You could even ask Halfords if they'd be interested in buying them??? I don't know that they would but that's where you can buy all the cool little bone beads that people use to build the rest of a cool claw necklace.

Badger price is poor... we paying $30, could be worse, like fox, but some people don't like putting them up. Lotsa yucky badgers this year, just like a lot of the coyotes in far southern AB, I havent seen many trophy specimens this year in the badger dept. If you want more $$$ for your badger, do them taxi and send to FHA, but pocket the feet, dont open up the heal pad, just salt and shove a stick or cardboard roll in. Ideally you start with a fine animal to begin with, hopefully these late winters emerge beautiful.
