Default Wildcat guns limited Edmonton

Hello. I’ve got a custom 8mm/338 manlicher stocked rifle made on a Mauser 98 with a rebarreled rerifled Remington 30-06 barrel
Does anyone know who ran this business and who the gunsmith would have been. I’d guess it was made in the 70’s

At one time Art Bourne was the gunsmith on staff at Wildcat, there may have been others. D.H.

How about Rachel's gunshop, anybody remember that shop?
My soon owns a gorgeous mannlicher stocked 450 Ackley on a Brno action that was done by them.

Thanks Dave, the work is very high end so this was a very talented gunsmith. The hand cut single border checkering is flawless. The fit is very nice with just the thinnest of layers of Acraglas bedding it from the back of the action to the end of the barrel. I was surprised to see that it was rebored 30 caliber barrel instead of a 8mm Mauser barrel The rifling is very smooth but quite shallow. It’s a very accurate rifle and a pleasure to shoot

Wildcat Guns was owned by Art Bourne and Arlan Johnston.

Some real nice work came out of the place.

Arlan Johnson, thanks Gord. I have been trying to come up with that name for a few days now. I had met Arlan several times but it was 25 years ago. A long time Bentley resident showed me a receipt for a job done at Wildcat, must have been early 1970's for the rechambering of an Enfield to 308 Norma Magnum and it was Art Bourne that did the job.
