CZ 457 American
Just picked up one on sale (couldn’t resist). Looking for scope mounting suggestions. Will be installing a 40mm objective scope. Don’t want high gloss rings as rifle is matte. Ring suggestions or should a guy get a 1pc base and regular rings (instead of 11mm for built in groves)?
Thanks

Should have come with a rail for weaver style rings no?

I don’t know, first CZ. Has 11mm grove for rings (CZ specific, I assume).

I have the same rifle which wears a matte black scope. I used Talley Rimfire Speciality rings (11mm dovetail) that are also matt black. Prophet River has both 1" and 30mm high 11mm rings for your rifle in stock.

If you don't want to go rail then Talley is the best option. I've had the Leupolds and the fit isn't as solid. Used to be PR only had the Talley highs but that may have changed with the 457 being the new kid on the block and having the shorter bolt throw.

Hey 270, anything in particular a guy should be watching for? I'm running Leupolds on my American.

I'm wondering the same I installed them to torque specs on my 455 Magnum 400 rounds later still solid?

You should be able to use low or medium rings now that the CZ 457 rimfire is redesigned to provide for decent bolt clearance. For me, the lower the scope is mounted the better the cheek weld and easier it is to get behind, given that the objective clears the barrel.
I've got a CZ 455 that I used the lowest Talley steel rings that the bolt would clear the scope...great rings but still a bit higher mount than would be my preference. The 457 should solve that.
I'd take the rifle and scope into PR and find the mount that works the best for the combination you have.
Good choice in a .22!

I and other CZ Rimfire owners I know have had some issues with the Leupold 11mm in the past. Maybe new versions are machined better? I've played with the Leupolds on 2 of my 9 CZ, 452, 453, and 455.
The Talleys are a simple 2 piece mount, 2 screws. Leupolds are technically 3 piece with 3 screws. The issue that's come up is the little screw tight flange on the Leupold not always being beveled at the right angle. Some will flip it to get a better grab in the receiver dovetail. Because of the improper machining I've also had 2 sets that would cant up a bit.
I've never had a slipping or cant issue with the Talleys but have had with the Leups. Truth be told I think a rail is the best way to go.

Young Gun, thanks for this thread, it got me looking at the rings on my 457. Let us know what you go with.
270, thanks for the info. My rings were not beveled at right angles as you described.

I just put a set of Leupolds on my cz457 American. I hope they work out. It is tough finding a decent selection. Have any of you found spare mags?
