Sometimes life just isn't fair...lol Think I'm at 15 or 16 years in four different states. Can't wait to hear all about it. Are you going to hire an outfitter or go it alone?

I'll hire someone. I don't know the country and am not going to risk it on a hunt of this magnitude. Keep applying Sheep you'll pull one eventually.

Default Desert Bighorn!

If Desert Bighorn is on your "bucket List" you can bypass all the crap and hunt them in Mexico? No draw required! They may even have tags for this fall?

Since this net worth cap came into effect in Canada my hunting plans have changed...lol

For some reason, I can't justify spending that kind of dough on a Mexico tag. If I draw one great....if not I'm content with three of the four. Although it does sound like there might be some new areas opening up in Mexico so I guess I should never say never....lol

Default Plans As A First Year Hunter

September: Get the new bow out there and try and hunt an archery only season white tail.

September - October: Cruise the prairie canals and hunt some ducks and maybe some geese if I am lucky.

October: I am going for a moose hunt in Northern BC with my Dad and some other family.

November: White tail buck time!!!!! Dependent on if I got anything during bow season.

Just the usual. Start looking for whitetails for the freezer in September and hunt them till Nov 30 if I've got tags left . Of course, I'm not going to pass up a 'trophy' buck if opportunity presents itself. Saw one a couple of weeks ago that is going to be really good by October.

Antlered moose if I get drawn and if one just happens to show up while hunting whitetails I'll use the tag.

I'll get a general mule deer tag for up here - just in case one shows up (like with moose). Aw, I remember my first time out hunting after moving here, saw a nice antlered buck and checked it out with binoculars - it was a mule deer, and I didn't bother getting a tag because I was advised not to bother due to there not begin too many mule deer bucks around here. Not going to make that error again!

Hope to find time to go after elk, again just a general tag.

Always carry a bear tag, just in case a real beauty shows up, but even then I'd probably just take pictures.

Can you tell, my main interest is whitetails .

ram and elk hunting that's the main focus also guaranteed to get a non-trophy sheep tag this year for some extra meat.

Default Utah

Hopefully Suffield for the month of September!
One of our US applications paid off as well. My son drew a Once in a Lifetime Utah Shiras moose permit in the North East corner of the state. Both these hunts are definately logistically challenging and my shop is covered in maps, some 18 to be exact!
Should be fun!

I should pull my Bull Moose tag for Valleyview.
So, that will be 10 days in the bush during calling season. I am thinking Willy will come with, so it might be shortened a hair due to school.

I was thinking about Wainwright, but decided to give it another year.

Off to chase wolf in Feb with my son.

Dad MIGHT draw his bull elk tag out east. If so, there will be some time spent up north of Drum.

Oh and BIRDS.. LOTS AND LOTS OF BIRDS!!!

Jamie

huge congrats on the tag ryry. wish you the best in amking good use of it!

as for me, i dont think im going to have as much time to hunt this year as normal, but im sure ill get out to the city parks here in medicine hat a time or two to shoot the city deer. between that and popping one or two out the window of the truck i should get some meat in the freezer by the end of it all. with any luck, ill get a few birds too, but im running low on lead shot. hard to find that stuff since the ban, but its the only thing that kills geese real good. looking forward to fall!
