Zip and I were up 'n at 'em bright and early for our first ice trip of the young season.
We embarked from Sylvan before sunrise, destined for Lake "X" aka. "Troutville" .
There was much debate about what was waiting for us upon arrival. Would there be ice? would it be walkable? And most importantly are they biting?
Well suffice it to say all questions were answered in our favour. Ice was good clear and at a uniform 5", solid.
Snow covered the ice when we arrived but did not survive the plus 13 degree day. We could have paddled off the lake at the end of the day.
No monsters were landed but saw a few. Caught a few more between us and enjoyed the weather and company. Good start to the season all round.
Cheers,
Scott.
