Wow what’s the pin gap like on an 875 grain arrow?? Just out of curiosity why did you choose to go so heavy?

Myself I’m shooting:

70 lb Mathews V3 31
29.5” DL
RIP TKO 300 spine cut to 28”
50 grain SS insert
4 fletch AAE Max Stealth with nockturnal and a wrap
125 grain Slick trick standards, mags, and rage hypo NC

Total weight 502 grains. About 280 fps.

Broadheads are flying like darts out to 80 yds touching field points holes, ready to roll this year. Putting away the rifle this year for the first time and strictly bowhunting through the whole season. Can’t wait!

I am using a single pin sight. Absolutely love it. My arrows are sticking out of a xbow block at 40yds.
I seen a lot of elk get away over the years, found many "lost" ones. I just like the Cape Buff mentality. 2 holes always better than one.
Plan for the best but have equipment ready for the worst.

Nice set up u have.

Although I have gone through a few Compound bows over the years, they all seem short-lived, the only one that I keep going back to and really enjoy shooting is the Damon Howatt Original Hunter recurve. It's got me an awful lot of deer and a couple of Moose over the years. Bought mine back in 68'. Very forgiving. Shoot with finger tabs (although at 74 I sometimes use a mechanical release) and Zwickey Black Diamond and original Bear Broadheads.

Default Trad this year

65# Herb Meland Pronghorn 1 piece Longbow. FF string with old school tarantula silencers. 575 grain Ash shafts with 190 gr Kodiak Broadheads. 4 of these ride in a Great Norther quiver with a 5th arrow fitted with blunt for small game and stump shooting my way back to the truck.

Will be making some new arrows pretty soon.

70lb Hoyt Ventum Pro 33”
QAD HDX rest
Spot Hogg Fast Eddie double stack 2 pin slider
Victory VAP TKO 300
Ethics Archery 110gr inserts
AAE Max Stealth 3 fletch left helical
QAD Exodus broadhead
Total weight - 520gr @ 283fps

Field points and broadheads group together out to 80yds. Spent a bit of time dialing out that far so the close in shots are easy. Can easily punch a small paper plate at 80 with broadheads.

2010 Hoyt Carbon Element @ 70#
29" draw
Easton FMJ 300 tipped with 125 gr Rocket Steelhead or 125 gr Grim Reaper Razortip, about 525 gr total arrow weight
QAD drop away
old dual caliper release
New to me Garmin A1i, sighted to 60 yards - easily within 1" per 10 yards
Prefer to shoot under 40 though, closer the better.

Now all I need is to somehow become stealthier than my 6'2" frame allows

Going to try out my Ghost Blind this year again. Worked 2 years ago but couldn't hunt last year due to injury.

J.

Thanks, it does shoot quite nice. Haha that's funny, the Jack Kempf flat bow I've been shooting the last 17 years is a great bow but definitely not as flashy as this one.

Tightspot Quiver
Goldtip Hunter XT 340 with 50 grain inserts

Care to give any experience with Annihilator heads? Blood-success rate? I think they are a great concept.

APA Mamaba M6 originally set at 60# with 30 in draw length...separated my shoulder 3 weeks ago and in order to keep hunting I now have it turned down to 44#.. shooting 30 in X weave carbon arrows 300 and 100 gr slicktrik broadheads ...had one more species of goose to get to finish an archery award requirement so made the above adjustments...got him so now I will rest the shoulder a couple weeks before a mid Nov whitetail trip to the bowzone .
