Default Ever had a trail cam mulched?

Looks like the government decided to mulch an area where I had my trail camera. It was only 10ft from where they stopped. Now I’m out a few hundred and a few months worth of pics. Not to mention the hunting area is ruined.

Part of their “Firesmart” program I guess.

Oh, that sucks. And now everyone has another thing to worry about when they put cameras out.

One side of the cutline they didn’t mulch for another 50yds, the other side with my camera they opened up.

I placed a new cam and salt lick there, maybe the deer will still use the line.

Strictly for game viewing pleasures I suppose.

Make sure its not on the power line right of way either. We're mulching all the power lines around Stettler right now for the power company.

I know of a pretty nice tree stand that will probably be chopped and smashed as it’s marked to be logged and somebody left it locked up the tree. I will have to be diligent and watch as the logging proceeds as my camera is not far away and if I don’t get it out it will have a simailar fait as your mulched camera.

Yes it should be gone by hunting season, if not, I will make sure I remove it before bow season.

We all know that the salt absorbed into the ground and residue is there for some years later. What you are doing is manipulating the system to work in your favour. I know some outfitters that do the same thing. I think it is cheating. But your legally within your rights I suppose.

If you hunt over the location after the salt is in the soil, you are baiting, and if F&W was aware of this, and found salt residue, they could charge you.

legalities aside.
I have never once seen a deer or animal use a salt block after mid summer never mind residue. I had a camera on a non hunting property where there was a salt block and you could see a strong drop off after the early spring months.

food bait or other attractants I could see being a issue with developing patterns but have never used them to see that happening.

Edit: A larger concern for me about using a salt block is the congregation of saliva and the transmission of CWD.

Yes.. This!

If people aren't worried about Cwd you should be. Stop adding to the problem.

Drum style mulcher head with hammer teeth? Ladder stand? Wouldn't even hardly notice it actually. Might wrap up, but pretty light duty steel. Most likely just rip it to pieces. Wouldn't even slow down

I have a question... I've never seen a mulcher in action, only the results. Do they just go in and chew up everything in the path, or does a crew go in first and down trees, or bulldoze a path and the mulcher finishes up?
